Gelnhausen/Offenbach (dpa/lhe) - On the Autobahn 66, a driver tried to flee a police check. The officials stopped the 29-year-old after a few hundred meters, as a police spokesman in Offenbach said on Thursday. The man allegedly threw a packet of marijuana out of the car window as he fled. It was said that he had not taken drugs or drunk alcohol.
The control took place stationary. According to the police, 32 cars were stopped and 35 people checked on Thursday night near Gelnhausen (Main-Kinzig district). Because of the carnival season, the police mainly looked to see if the drivers were drunk or had taken illegal drugs. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 29-year-old.
