Hesse: 85-year-old hit with a branch in the subway station

Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - A man attacked an 85-year-old with a branch in a Frankfurt subway station and slightly injured him. The crime happened on Wednesday in the Merianplatz station in the Bornheim district, as the police announced on Friday. There the 85-year-old waited in front of an elevator. A 56-year-old man with a shopping cart also stood in front of the elevator. When the senior decided to wait for the next lift, the other man took a two-meter-long wooden branch from the shopping cart, screamed and hit the 85-year-old. He fell to the ground.

An unidentified woman intervened and yelled at the thug, who then fled. The homeless suspect was recognized on the street on Thursday and arrested. He was due to appear in court on Friday. The police are now looking for witnesses, in particular for the unknown woman.
