Hesse: Advance sales for the Bad Hersfeld Festival got off to a good start

Bad Hersfeld (dpa/lhe) - The Bad Hersfeld Festival is likely to attract thousands of theater fans from Hesse and all over Germany again this summer. "Ticket sales have been going well so far, even better than last year," said a spokeswoman for the festival of the German Press Agency. "That's good news, we're happy about it, especially since it's not a matter of course in times of crisis. We hope the trend will continue. It shows that the program is being accepted."

At the opening of the festival on June 30, viewers will be able to see the Shakespeare classic "King Lear" in the Bad Hersfeld monastery ruins. The director is Tina Lanik, who has already staged at the Burgtheater in Vienna and at the Munich Residenztheater.

The audience can also look forward to prominent actors in some roles, but names are not yet known. The musical highlights of the 72nd festival season include the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" (premier July 1, 2023) and "Die Rache der Fledermaus" (from August 11), a funny and offbeat version of the famous operetta by Johann Strauss . From July 7, 2023, "The Little Ghost" will haunt the monastery ruins for children.
