Bad Homburg (dpa/lhe) - Trains are to run again on the problematic Taunus route Bad Homburg-Brandoberndorf from this Monday (February 27). The Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) also wants to use hydrogen-powered trains. Retrofits should make their operation more stable, as the manufacturer Alstom had announced. A total of five hydrogen trains and six diesel trains are said to be on the road. Due to construction work on the RB15 line, train services were interrupted and will now be resumed. The previously used replacement buses should continue to drive for safety.
In December, the world's largest fleet of hydrogen trains should start operating in the Taunus. However, only part of the 27 trains ordered was delivered, and some of them were not operational. There were also problems with the replacement diesel-powered trains that were put on the route. Alstom now wants to deliver the entire fleet when the timetable changes in June. The trains are also planned for three other routes in the RMV area.
