Gießen (dpa/lhe) - After a knife attack in downtown Gießen, the police launched an investigation against a 30-year-old man. The arrested person from Eritrea is suspected of attempted homicide, said a police spokeswoman in Gießen on Thursday. The suspect was due to be brought before the magistrate in the late afternoon.

The 27-year-old, who was seriously injured in the dispute on Tuesday evening, is said to be out of danger. Nothing was initially known about the background to the bloody conflict near the main train station.
