Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Less than half of the Hessian women with children under the age of six were employed in 2021. Of the 133,000 working mothers, around three quarters (74.5 percent) were employed part-time, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden on Tuesday. The proportion of 48.6 percent of working mothers with small children remained almost unchanged compared to 2011.
In contrast, the employment rate among Hessian men with children under the age of six was significantly higher. In 2021, the rate was 88.5 percent. According to the statisticians, 7.8 percent of the 208,000 employed fathers worked part-time. In 2021, the employment rate for fathers with small children was 92.6 percent.
