Frankfurt am Main (dpa / lhe) - An armed man with a motorcycle helmet damaged several vehicles in Frankfurt and triggered a police operation. There were no injuries, police said on Wednesday.

Several emergency calls were received on Tuesday morning, after which a man with a helmet was walking through Frankfurt's north end. The officers found the perpetrator and asked him to show his hands. The man then formed pistols with his fingers and aimed at the officers. Ultimately, the police arrested him.

With the help of witnesses, two large butcher knives and a bread knife were found, which the man allegedly discarded. According to the police, the man cut the seat of a vintage motorcycle and the tire of a car. The perpetrator was taken to a psychiatric hospital.
