Hesse: Attacked the snack bar owner for no reason: process started

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - In the trial for an attack on the owner of a kebab shop, the accused initially did not comment on the allegations before the Frankfurt Regional Court on Monday. The 37-year-old man from Kempten, Bavaria, is accused of attacking and seriously injuring his victim in Frankfurt in August last year for no reason. The alleged perpetrator was taken to a psychiatric hospital shortly thereafter, and according to the public prosecutor's office, he should be housed there permanently.

The accused is said to have come to Frankfurt at the time to do something in a consulate general. Since it wasn't open yet, an employee suggested that he wait in the neighboring snack bar for it to open. After the 37-year-old initially inconspicuously drank two cups of tea, he is said to have suddenly hit the owner. The victim was hit in the head by a stove attachment, among other things, and suffered concussion, lacerations and a broken rib. In the proceedings, the criminal chamber of the Frankfurt Regional Court has so far scheduled two more days of hearings until the beginning of August.
