Neu-Isenburg/Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - After an accident with an overturned truck, Autobahn 5 near Langen was released again after several hours. Only one lane had to remain closed because of the road surface damaged by diesel, the police said on Wednesday night.
Overall, the rescue measures after the accident in the direction of Frankfurt on Tuesday morning took twelve hours. At times, traffic on the busy route was backed up by up to ten kilometers. Rescuers treated those waiting.
According to the police, the truck, which was loaded with around eleven tons of liquid soap extract, collided with a car and tipped on its side. As a result, all four lanes were blocked. The driver of the semitrailer survived the accident unharmed, as did the driver of the car and his passenger. According to initial police estimates, the damage was tens of thousands of euros.
