Hesse: cashier prevents theft: offender flees without loot

Darmstadt (dpa / lhe) - A 33-year-old cashier prevented a robbery at a food market in Darmstadt. According to the police, a previously unknown perpetrator threatened the 33-year-old with a knife on Monday evening and demanded cash from the till. However, the woman refused. The perpetrator then tried to pry open the cash register himself with a knife. The courageous cashier prevented that, too, by knocking the knife out of his hand. The woman was slightly injured. Because customers finally became aware of the attempted robbery, the perpetrator fled - without taking anything. The cashier received medical care on site. The search for the perpetrator continues.
