Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - After Frankfurt Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) was voted out of office, the CDU on Saturday elected former mayor and chamberlain Uwe Becker as a candidate for the post in the mayoral election on March 5th. Becker got 93 percent of the votes, the party announced after a district party conference. The controversial OB Feldmann was voted out of office on November 6th in a referendum. Until the new election, his previous deputy, Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg (Greens), will take over the official business. Other parties have already presented their candidates. The date for a possible runoff election is March 26th.
