Hesse: Certificate: Students can determine gender entry

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Students at Frankfurt's Goethe University can have their self-determined gender entered on their diplomas and certificates. The same applies to the self-determined first name, the university announced on Wednesday. The university sees this as an important step towards equal treatment. It is now sufficient to submit a corresponding form with a supplementary ID card from the German Society for Transidentity and Intersexuality. Previously, this information could only be entered for trans people, for example, in internal university documents.

Trans identity means that people do not identify with the gender assigned to them at birth.
