Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - On the occasion of Christmas, 75 Hessian prisoners are allowed to leave prison early this year by pardon. 35 requests for clemency on the occasion of Christmas were rejected, as the Ministry of Justice announced at the request of the German Press Agency in Wiesbaden. The Christmas grace is possible for prison inmates in Hesse whose sentence falls between November 25 of the current year and January 1, 2023 inclusive.
In the previous year, according to the Ministry of Justice, a total of 84 prisoners in Hesse were released early by way of clemency on the occasion of Christmas. 56 requests for clemency were rejected in 2021.
