Hesse: closing time: robbers face closed doors

Kassel (dpa/lhe) - Three masked men failed in two robbery attempts in Kassel because, according to the police, they "each came shortly after closing time" and therefore stood in front of closed doors.

As the officials further announced on Thursday, the men, who were around 20 to 25 years old, had tried to rob a beverage store the day before. His employees saw the masked trio standing in front of the already closed glass door and alerted the police. Then the strangers ran away.

A good three hours later, the men reportedly failed again - this time at a gas station. There they tried to open the door, but they couldn't. Instead, they were noticed by an employee who was still in the sales room.

Although the criminals initially fled undetected, the police say they believe that the two attempted robberies were the same perpetrators.
