Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The use of solar energy is to be significantly expanded in Frankfurt. According to information from Thursday, the parties in the city government, the Greens, SPD, FDP and Volt, agreed on a support program and improved advice. So far, only around 3.5 percent of the solar energy potential on the roof surfaces of residential, commercial and industrial buildings in the city is used, it said.
The offer is aimed at companies, private households and associations, said the Greens faction in Römer. The aim is to reduce dependence on fossil energy imports, limit energy costs and get the climate crisis under control. The City Council is expected to consider the project in September.
