Kassel (dpa / lhe) - The closure of the gap on the Autobahn 44 near the northern Hessian municipality of Kaufungen will be further delayed. The north-west branch of the Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, which is responsible for planning, announced on Monday that almost 1,300 objections from private parties and dozens of other statements had been received in the hearing process for the requested building permit, which are now to be checked and evaluated. This will take at least two years. Only then can a decision be made on how to proceed.
The building permit for the last section of Autobahn 44 was applied for at the end of 2020. The A44 in northern Hesse is to connect the A7 near Kassel with the A4 near Herleshausen-Wommen (Thuringia).
The Hessian Minister of Transport Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens), who is responsible for the building permit, welcomed the move by the motorway authority. "If the federal government now re-examines and hopefully also considers a housing variant again, the state of Hesse expressly welcomes this and is looking forward to the result of the examination."
