Hesse: Construction of the Salzbach Viaduct for the A66 is on schedule

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The new construction of the Salzbach Viaduct for the Autobahn 66 near Wiesbaden is progressing as planned. For the southern bridge, more than half of the 300 meter long gap has already been closed, as the West Autobahn company announced on Friday. In February and April 2023, the two missing parts of the bridge should then be installed. The building could be opened to traffic at the end of next year. The north bridge is to follow by mid-2025.

The Salzbach Viaduct was blown up on November 6, 2021. Previously, the building had to be closed for safety reasons. The federal government is investing around 150 million euros in the replacement building. According to Autobahn GmbH, an average of around 80,000 vehicles will drive on the bridge every day.
