Hesse: Corruption charges against public prosecutor partially approved

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The Frankfurt Regional Court has partially approved the indictment against a senior public prosecutor suspected of corruption. A date for the main hearing has not yet been set, said a spokesman for the court on Thursday in Frankfurt. The proceedings concern the accusation of commercial corruption and the evasion of sales and income taxes as well as the solidarity surcharge. Another defendant is charged with commercial bribery and subsidy fraud.

The proceedings against the allegation of breach of trust had been separated because the Chamber had ordered additional evidence to be taken.

The investigations against the lawyer, who headed an investigative unit for crimes in the healthcare sector at the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor's Office, have been ongoing since 2019. He is said to have commissioned overpriced and sometimes superfluous reports and received bribes for them. The state of Hesse is said to have suffered damage of around 560,000 euros as a result of the overpriced reports.
