Hesse: day trippers in a snowy landscape - cloudy weather on Sunday

Offenbach (dpa/lhe) - Numerous day-trippers enjoyed the wintry weather in Hesse on the third weekend in Advent. On the Großer Feldberg in the Taunus, for example, a blanket of snow had settled, which families with sleds, for example, could be happy about. In some places in the state, the sun shone at times on Saturday, in other places even continuously.

On this day, many visitors also went to Willingen in Hesse's largest ski area. Numerous day trippers took the cable car up the Ettelsberg and hiked through the winter landscape from there. The ski slopes in the north Hessian community are scheduled to open next Wednesday. This is the earliest start of the ski season in twelve years, said a spokesman for the ski area.

Cloudier weather was expected on the third Sunday in Advent: the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach announced that it would be mostly cloudy to overcast on Sunday. The meteorologists are expecting snow or sleet at temperatures between minus two and one degree. Some snow should therefore fall on Monday night – fog and ice are possible locally. Temperatures should drop to minus four to minus eight degrees.

The week starts sunnier, but it still stays cold. According to the forecast, there will be clouds on Monday morning, which will loosen up over the course of the day. It will remain mostly dry with a maximum of minus three and zero degrees. The DWD also predicts clear weather for Tuesday.
