Petersberg (dpa/lhe) - In Petersberg near Fulda, the police found a dead man on Wednesday night, who was probably the victim of a crime. As the public prosecutor's office in Fulda and the police announced, a 21-year-old man with Bulgarian nationality was arrested early in the morning as part of a search. The exact background of the fact is not yet known, the investigations are ongoing.

According to the information, the officials were initially alerted because of an unclear incident. They then found the lifeless man, who apparently had stab wounds, on the outside staircase of a residential accommodation for temporary workers. Despite immediately initiated resuscitation measures, an emergency service could only determine the death of the 39-year-old man, who also came from Bulgaria. Almost two hours after the body was found, the 21-year-old was arrested in Petersberg.

The public prosecutor's office and the Fulda criminal police are investigating a suspected homicide. At the site where the corpse was found, an intensive search for and protection of clues was underway. In addition, an autopsy was ordered, when this will take place is not yet clear, it said. A possible murder weapon has not yet been found. Witnesses who can provide information about the crime or have observed something suspicious were asked to contact the East Hesse police headquarters.
