Hesse: Deutschlandticket: City Day calls for "financing guarantee"

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The Hessian Association of Cities is demanding a financing guarantee for the 49-euro Germany ticket from the federal and state governments. It is also important that the ticket is combined with better offers on public buses and trains, said the association's president, Fulda's mayor Heiko Wingenfeld, on Friday in Wiesbaden. From the point of view of the cities, the financing has so far been insufficiently regulated in every respect.

The capped three billion euros for the ticket and the promised federal funds for local transport were not enough. Wingenfeld sees the states as having an obligation to compensate for the loss of revenue from the Germany ticket in the municipalities. "To do this, in addition to passing on federal funds, they must finally use additional funds of their own."
