Hesse: driver flees from police control: three officers injured

Pohlheim (dpa/lhe) - A driver engaged in a nightly chase with the police, in which three officers were injured. As the police announced on Thursday, the police officers wanted to check a car at a gas station in Pohlheim (Giessen district) during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. However, the driver of the car turned his vehicle around and accelerated. A short time later he stopped the car and continued his escape on foot. The police also followed him on foot.

When the escape passed the patrol car again, the man suddenly got into the police car. The officers tried to pull him out of the car, but the man kicked and punched the officers and managed to escape again. The use of a distance electro-pulse device was initially unsuccessful. Ultimately, the police officers managed to arrest the fugitive using pepper spray.

According to the police, it is a 25-year-old man from the Gießen district. He doesn't have a driver's license. There is also evidence of drug use by the driver. The 25-year-old and three officers were taken to the hospital with injuries. Several investigations have been launched against the man.
