Hesse: drunk without a driver's license runs over pedestrians

Bad Homburg (dpa/lhe) - A pedestrian was hit by a car in Bad Homburg on Sunday evening and was fatally injured. A 34-year-old had previously "heavily drunk" left the road in his car and caught the woman on the sidewalk, the police said on Monday morning. The 36-year-old died at the scene of the accident despite the resuscitation measures that had been initiated due to her severe injuries.

The driver had gone a few hundred meters away immediately after the accident and had fallen asleep in his car. He should not have a valid driver's license. Officers took the man to the police station. He now has to answer in criminal proceedings for involuntary manslaughter.
