Hesse: Employees of the university hospital are on strike in Frankfurt

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Numerous employees of the university hospital want to go on warning strike this Thursday for better working conditions. The Verdi union had called on 4,000 non-medical employees to stop working up to and including Friday. Previously, the collective bargaining with the hospital on a relief for the employees on Wednesday remained without agreement. The negotiating partners want to meet again on Monday.

Verdi is expecting several hundred people to demonstrate in front of the clinic on both days. According to the union and the hospital, emergency care will be maintained.

The negotiations revolve around a relief for around 4,000 non-medical employees. Among other things, Verdi calls for a limit on how many patients a nurse on the ward has to take care of per shift. It is also about better training conditions and compensation for work in overwork situations.

The Frankfurt University Hospital is one of only two university hospitals in Hesse. The Gießen-Marburg University Hospital was privatized and belongs to Rhön-Klinikum AG.
