Hesse: faction: CDU loses "full-blooded politician" with Bouffier

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The Hessian CDU parliamentary group leader Ines Claus has praised the outgoing prime minister and CDU state leader Volker Bouffier as a "full-blooded politician". With his departure, the CDU is also losing one of its most prominent figures in Germany, Claus said in Wiesbaden on Monday. "Volker Bouffier shaped Hesse in the best sense for decades and shaped a political era." In doing so, he also overcame political rifts, said Claus, referring to the formation of the first black-green alliance in 2014. This is now also serving as a blueprint for new coalitions in North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein.

Bouffier was to be said goodbye to the Bundeswehr on Monday evening at a big ceremony in Wiesbaden with musical honors and with more than 600 guests.
