Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The trial of a deadly knife attack on the hard shoulder of a motorway is dragging on in front of the Frankfurt Regional Court. Instead of the verdict announced for the end of January, new hearing dates were set, the court said on Tuesday. After the hearing of other witnesses, a plea will now be given on February 20th. The verdict against the Serb (41) accused of murder is scheduled to be announced on February 27.
The man has had to answer to the jury since mid-January because he is said to have killed his estranged wife with seven stab wounds in March last year. Previously, he is said to have followed the woman on the Autobahn 661 between the Frankfurt districts of Eckenheim and Preungesheim and rammed her car several times. In court, he made a partial confession and admitted the use of the knife.
He was distraught about the previous separation, he said. However, a psychiatric expert certified that he was fully responsible and able to control himself. He does have an "adjustment disorder", but not a "profound consciousness disorder" with pathological value.
