Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - The Federal Police at Frankfurt Airport has caught a wanted criminal. The officials arrested the man on New Year's Day when he arrived from Lisbon, the federal police said on Monday. The 38-year-old was wanted for a burglary in March 2022 in Freiburg in Baden-Württemberg, DNA traces of him had been secured at the crime scene. The Georgian should also not have traveled to Germany again because of an earlier conviction for fraud.

According to the federal police, he was sentenced to 27 months in prison by the Sinsheim district court in 2010 and deported in 2012 after he had served part of the sentence. He will now have to serve the remaining 284 days.
