Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The identity of the body found after an apartment fire in Frankfurt and the exact cause of death are to be clarified by means of an autopsy. The victim is probably the 77-year-old tenant, the police said on Monday. The fire broke out on Sunday in the ground floor apartment of an apartment building in the Bockenheim district. When the rescue workers arrived, the stairwell of the building was completely filled with smoke, the flames would have hit it through an open apartment door. At windows on the second and third floors, people whose escape route was cut off by the stairwell would have made themselves noticed. They were rescued, among other things, by a turntable ladder. The cause of the fire was still unclear.
