Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - In the fight against undeclared work and illegal employment, the main customs office in Frankfurt checked 472 employers and 3953 people last year. The amount of damage in connection with the criminal and fine investigations was estimated in a statement on Friday at around 5.3 million euros. One focus of the investigations was directed against employers in several sectors who tried to disguise their undeclared wages by means of chain fraud. Groups of perpetrators in the cleaning and construction industries were also in focus. According to the information, the prison sentences imposed as a result of the work of the financial control undeclared work totaled 245 months.
