Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The city of Frankfurt wants to set an example with an "Anti-Discrimination Office". The new facility with a total of three positions will be located in Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg’s Department for Diversity, Anti-Discrimination and Social Cohesion. In addition, there is an anti-discrimination ombudsman in the Office for Multicultural Affairs, also with three employees, the city announced on Thursday.
With the new unit, "the many activities in the field of anti-discrimination can finally be brought together," said Eskandari-Grünberg. Such a staff position is unique in the Federal Republic, she said. "Many talk about reducing discrimination in their city and wanting to promote participation for all. But hardly anyone is willing to use the necessary resources to do so."
