Hesse: Frankfurters should produce less waste: Zero Waste Lab

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Frankfurt wants to drastically reduce waste. Per capita residual waste is to fall by 85 kilograms from the current 205 to 120 kilograms by 2035, and less municipal waste is also to be produced. The aim is to become a Zero Waste City, as Rosemarie Heilig (Greens), head of the environmental department, announced on Tuesday at the first working meeting of the Zero Waste Lab, which was founded in October. According to the city, this acts as a think tank that collects ideas for avoiding waste, encourages citizens to get involved and is supposed to help push projects. In addition to the city and the municipal waste disposal company FES, representatives from business and science also participate in the network.
