Königstein/Bad Homburg (dpa/lhe) - A garage fire in Königstein im Taunus caused millions in damage. A luxury car was also destroyed in the fire, a police spokesman reported on Sunday in Bad Homburg. In particular, because of this, the damage is in the seven-digit range. According to the police, the garage building on the property caught fire on Sunday night for reasons that are still unclear. The flames quickly spread to the furniture stored there and the five cars parked inside and in front of it.
The residents and neighbors of the property were evacuated. In the meantime, according to the police, the fire threatened to spread to the neighboring residential buildings, but they remained undamaged in the end. Nobody got hurt.
According to a report by hessenschau.de, the destroyed luxury car is said to be a vintage Ferrari worth an estimated 3.5 million euros. The police were initially unable to give an exact amount of damage.
