Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - In the trial of the insolvent gold dealer PIM, the plea of the defense is expected this Tuesday (9:00 a.m.) before the Darmstadt Regional Court. The public prosecutor accuses the 51-year-old former managing director of the company from Heusenstamm in southern Hesse of serious fraud and money laundering. In her plea she called for a total of seven and a half years in prison. The process has been going on for two years.
PIM Gold GmbH is said to have concluded supply contracts with customers from 2016 to September 2019, including promises of bonuses for gold, but then failed to fulfill them. Interest is said to have been paid out with the money of newly recruited customers according to a kind of pyramid scheme. The ex-managing director has been in custody for more than three years.
