Hesse: Graf: What hospitals can learn from car dealerships

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The medical director of the Frankfurt University Hospital, Prof. Jürgen Graf, has called for a feedback system for medical facilities. "When you buy a car, after four weeks you get a letter from the dealership that tells you how satisfied you are. If you've been to the hospital, that's not usual."

In the Frankfurt University Hospital, this is partly done on their own initiative. "Actually, this should be mandatory, standardized and therefore comparable," said Graf. The fact that the clinics do not receive any feedback is a major shortcoming. As a rule, the follow-up care is provided by the family doctor "and there is no structured feedback from there either with regard to the quality of the results of the care."
