Hesse: Hesse: admission program for people from Afghanistan

Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Hesse wants to set up a state admissions program for refugees from Afghanistan. This means that 1,000 people from Afghanistan could find refuge in Hesse, said Green parliamentary group leader Mathias Wagner on Thursday in Wiesbaden after an agreement on the project in the black-green coalition.

The program is aimed at refugees from Afghanistan who have family ties to people living in Hesse. The prerequisite for the implementation of the state admissions program is the agreement of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, explained Wagner. There is already a corresponding signal.

Around 31,000 Afghan nationals with temporary or permanent residence permits are currently living in Hesse. They can apply for admission to the state program for their relatives. According to the Green politician, the definition of relatives is deliberately broad. This included spouses, first-degree relatives such as parents and children, second-degree relatives such as grandparents, grandchildren or siblings, as well as their spouses and minor children.

The prerequisite for admission to Hesse is that the person has not committed a criminal offense and that the relatives have given a declaration of commitment that their livelihood is secured, reported the parliamentary group leader. Excluded from the declaration of commitment are the costs of illness, pregnancy, childbirth, the need for care and disability.
