Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Minister of Justice Roman Poseck (CDU) is pushing the pace when introducing electronic files in the Hessian judiciary. A large number of the courts in the country will be equipped with the e-file in the coming year, Poseck explained on Thursday in Wiesbaden. "We have recently significantly increased the speed of the changeover to e-files." The law stipulates that the entire judiciary in Germany will work with the electronic file from January 1, 2026. The processes in Hesse are also based on this requirement.
The Minister of Justice emphasized that the switch from paper files to electronic files brings many advantages. Workflows could be made more efficient. Labor-intensive and costly printing is no longer necessary. The file is available to several people at the same time. Working conditions in the judiciary could also be made more flexible. That applies to the service units in particular.
In the second half of 2022, the e-file was introduced at the state social court in Darmstadt, the administrative court in Kassel and the regional court in Kassel, said Poseck. Since November, the District Court of Bad Homburg has also been the first Hessian district court to use electronic files in civil proceedings. The increase in personnel in the IT department and the improvement in the training concept paid off. They are the basis for the rapid expansion of e-files.
The minister announced that the expansion of the electronic file to all regional courts in Hesse is planned for 2023. The 40 district courts in Hesse are then to be gradually converted. In addition, the conversion of all outstanding social courts and administrative courts to e-files is planned for the coming year.
