Hesse: Hesse stays with the Corona course: No end to the mask requirement

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Hesse is sticking to its Corona course and sticking to the mask requirement on buses and trains in local transport. A step like that in Bavaria, where the mask requirement in local public transport is to be abolished on December 10, is currently not planned in Hesse, a spokesman for the Ministry of Social Affairs said on Tuesday at the request of the German Press Agency in Wiesbaden.

Social Affairs Minister Kai Klose (Greens) had already justified this attitude in mid-November by saying that people on buses and trains sometimes come very close together in local transport. Mouth and nose protection offers good precautions against infection with the corona virus, but represents a relatively minor encroachment on people's fundamental rights. There is therefore no reason to change the existing mask requirement in public transport.
