Hesse: Hesse welcomes the federal states’ new leeway with regard to corona rules

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Hesse is basically satisfied with the new infection protection law passed in the Bundestag. Secretary of State for Social Affairs Anne Janz (Greens) welcomed on Thursday that the amendments to the law should give the federal states the opportunity to take their own measures to combat the corona pandemic, depending on the situation.

But Janz also explained: "We would have liked clearer guidelines on the criteria and threshold values from when the federal states should impose stricter corona rules." This would have led to greater nationwide uniformity and ensured greater acceptance among the population.

The Bundestag decided on Thursday the Corona rules for autumn and winter. The Federal Council still has to agree. From October 1st to April 7th, 2023, the legislative package provides for further rules on masks and tests. The federal states should be able to impose the requirements for mask requirements indoors and expand them in a critical situation. FFP2 masks should apply nationwide in clinics, nursing homes, medical practices and long-distance trains.
