Hesse: Homicide determined after deadly shots

Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - After the fatal shots at a 38-year-old in Frankfurt, the police are looking for witnesses. A suspect was arrested and should be brought before the magistrate on Tuesday. The body will be autopsied on Tuesday. The homicide detective is investigating the background.

The crime happened on Monday evening in the Praunheim district of Frankfurt. According to the police's previous findings, the 38-year-old was fatally injured by several shots on the street. Several attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful, officials reported. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene. "Whether the perpetrator and the victim knew each other and what the underlying motivation for the crime is is the subject of the ongoing investigations by the Frankfurt Homicide Commission," the police reported on Tuesday.

The day after the crime, among other things, video surveillance recordings were evaluated. Officials are hoping to find witnesses. The investigators assume "that presumably several witnesses saw the perpetrators and victims and also had contact with them when the victim was already injured but still alive on the ground". The witnesses probably assumed an accident.
