Hesse: Man is said to have shown a Hitler salute and bitten police officers

Kassel (dpa/lhe) - A drunk is said to have shown the Nazi salute to police officers in Kassel on Friday evening and bitten an official. As the police announced on Monday, the 33-year-old had previously injured an acquaintance during a dispute in a supermarket, including punches in the face. He then racially insulted a man at a tram stop and hit him in the face.

After the police officers arrived, he reportedly gave them the Hitler salute twice. He "apparently deliberately" pushed an officer with a migration background backwards into the track bed. The policeman injured his arm. When the 33-year-old was then arrested, he put up a lot of resistance and bit the already injured officer on the arm while driving to the station, the message said. He also spat and insulted the police officers.

The man was reportedly taken to a police cell to sober up. A blood test should now provide information about his exact alcohol level. The suspect, who is already known to the police, has to answer for using signs of unconstitutional organizations, hate speech, resisting law enforcement officers, triple bodily harm and insult.
