Darmstadt (dpa / lhe) - An apparently confused man triggered a major police operation in Darmstadt. Local residents reported on Tuesday afternoon and reported gunshot noises in an apartment building, the police said. The officers finally found several compressed air guns and drugs on a 45-year-old resident and arrested him. For reasons that are not yet known, he fired shots with the compressed air gun. Nobody was injured. The man was taken to a psychiatric hospital.
Compressed air guns are colloquially referred to as air pistols, air rifles or air pressure rifles. They are mainly used as sports equipment or at shooting galleries in markets. Some fall under the gun law - some don't.
