Hesse: Marathon: parts of Frankfurt closed to traffic

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Because of the Frankfurt Marathon, there will be traffic delays in Hesse's largest city this Sunday. Numerous streets in the city center and along the running route in Sachsenhausen, Niederrad, Goldstein, Schwanheim, Nied, Höchst, im Gallus and in the Europaviertel are closed from 7 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. Important points of contact such as the main train station, the airport and hospitals can also be reached by car at any time.

Numerous bus and tram lines also have to be interrupted or diverted. However, S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains can run as normal. On some routes even more and longer subways are used. The starting signal for the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon, which will take place again in the Main metropolis after 2019 and a Corona break, is at 10 a.m. The organizers are expecting around 12,000 runners from all over the world at the 39th edition.
