Hesse: Minister of Social Affairs presents new state social report

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Hesse's Social Affairs Minister Kai Klose (Greens) will present the state social report 2022 on Monday (3 p.m.). The study deals, among other things, with the distribution of income and wealth as well as the risk of poverty of certain population groups. It is the third Hessian state social report, the first two appeared in 2021 and 2017. The most recently published study showed, among other things, that 16.5 percent of the residents in Hesse were at risk of poverty - around one million people.

For those under 18, the so-called poverty risk rate in Hesse was 21.6 percent. According to the 2017 state social report, households with less than 60 percent of the median income were considered poor. State transfer payments are included in the calculation.
