Hesse: More business start-ups in Hesse

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - In Hesse, more companies were founded last year than at any time since 2016. 61,300 trades have been registered and 50,600 companies have disappeared from the market, said the Hessian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HIHK) on Monday in Wiesbaden. This means that 10,700 more companies were registered than deregistered. According to the HIHK start-up report, most start-ups took place in the retail, service and construction sectors.

37 percent of the start-ups of sole proprietorships in Hesse were carried out by women. The proportion of foreign nationals in start-up activities was 27 percent. The figures gave confidence, said HIHK President Kirsten Schoder-Steinmüller. "We would like politicians to reduce bureaucracy for founders, simplify tax rules and improve access to financing." These measures would further promote the entrepreneurial spirit in Hesse and motivate even more women and men to become self-employed.
