Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - In Hesse, the population of endangered animal species such as the gray bunting and the field hamster is recovering. "A trend reversal in the extinction of species in our cultural landscape is possible," said Environment Minister Priska Hinz (Greens) on Thursday in the Hessian state parliament in Wiesbaden due to this development. The field projects that the black-green state government launched would therefore also be continued.
The field floor projects were launched in 2018. According to the ministry, the special species protection program runs from Bad Zwesten in the north of Hesse to the Treburer Rheinauen in the south in nine priority areas, which aims to protect endangered species in agricultural land. The focus is particularly on hamsters, corn buntings, partridges, insects and wild herbs with a high risk category.
