Hesse: Municipalities receive millions in funding for districts

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Numerous Hessian municipalities receive money from the state and federal government to spice up disadvantaged districts. A total of 25.7 million euros are available, as the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Wiesbaden announced on Tuesday. Investments in infrastructure, housing, education and integration are funded. With a view to climate change, open and green spaces as well as squares and parks are also to be subsidised. Such projects are a condition for the participation of the federal government in the funding.

Frankfurt received the highest grants with a total of around 3.6 million euros, Wiesbaden (2.9 million euros) and Hanau with a total of 2.6 million euros. Among the smaller municipalities, Steinbach in the Hochtaunus district received the highest single amount with 2 million euros, followed by Bebra in East Hesse (1.2 million euros).
