Hesse: Nabu: Provide animals in the garden with water on hot days

Wetzlar (dpa/lhe) - In view of the coming hot days, the Nabu nature conservation association has called for water to be made available to birds, hedgehogs, squirrels and insects. "Every garden pond is a vital oasis for many animals. But simple solutions such as bird baths and water bowls also help," said state chairman Gerhard Eppler on Tuesday in Wetzlar. When it is very hot, the water should be changed daily and the troughs cleaned to prevent the transmission of pathogens. For the insects, the bowl should be provided with a stone or piece of wood.
