Bad Hersfeld (dpa/lhe) - The Bad Hersfeld Festival is starting this year's season with several new actors for the stage version of the play "The Club of Dead Poets". The main role of the teacher John Keating is cast twice: in addition to the well-known theater and television actor Götz Schubert (including "Wolfsland", "Der Turm"), Michael Rotschopf ("Stralsund", "Soko Leipzig", "A Strong Team" also takes over. ) the role of the inspiring educator, as announced by the festival on Friday. Rotschopf can be seen in this year's opening performance of the play on July 2nd as well as in nine other performances, Schubert is John Keating in a total of eight performances.

"Götz Schubert felt extremely comfortable in Bad Hersfeld, he absolutely wanted to be on our stage as Keating in the "Club der Toten Dichter" in 2022," said festival director Joern Hinkel. "However, shooting dates made it impossible for him to attend all the performances. I am all the more pleased that we have found a brilliant and prominent actor in Michael Rotschopf who is willing to "share" the role with Götz and the other performances to play. It's anything but a matter of course."

The TV and stage stars Hannes Hellmann and Thorsten Nindel are also playing again in "The Dead Poets Society". Hannes Hellmann will once again be the school principal Paul Nolan. He is known to television audiences for his role in the series "Notruf Hafen Kante" or from television thrillers such as "Sarah Kor". Thorsten Nindel, who became known as "Zorro" in "Lindenstraße", once again plays Mr. Perry, the father of the student Neil Perry, who is also played by Till Timmermann this year. Intendant and director Joern Hinkel, together with the dramaturg Tilman Raabke, wrote a text version for the Bad Hersfeld Festival after he had received the rights for the European premiere of the 1989 world cinema success.
