Hesse: New head of the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office appointed

Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - The lawyer Peter Speth will be the new head of the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office. According to a statement on Wednesday, Speth was appointed by Hesse's Minister of Justice Roman Poseck (CDU) with effect from April 1, 2023. According to the information, the 62-year-old was most recently Head of Department I in the Ministry of Justice in Wiesbaden and was therefore responsible for information technology, digitization and real estate. He succeeds Albrecht Schreiber, who is retiring at the end of March.

The Frankfurt public prosecutor's office is the largest public prosecutor's office in Hesse with currently 188 public prosecutors and 157 employees, as the ministry announced. Among other things, the authority acts as a special public prosecutor's office - its responsibilities include economic, environmental and consumer protection crimes as well as capital market and competition crimes.
