Hesse: New positions in the public health service in Hesse

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - To strengthen the public health service, over 270 permanent full-time positions have been created and filled in Hesse over the past two years. In addition, there were over 220 temporary jobs in the state through the pact for the public health service (ÖGD), said Secretary of State for Social Affairs Anne Janz (Greens) in response to a parliamentary question from the FDP parliamentary group in Wiesbaden.

Because of the corona pandemic, the federal and state governments decided on the pact for the public health service in 2020 in order to increase the number of staff, especially in the around 400 health authorities in Germany. As a first step, the federal states should create at least 1,500 new, permanent full-time positions in the ÖGD from February 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021.

An application for funding had been submitted to the federal government for the project on uniform software for the health authorities in Hesse, but the final decision had not yet been made, the state secretary reported. Once the funding decision has been received, the uniform software will be developed in close cooperation with the city of Frankfurt, the health authorities, municipal umbrella organizations and other partners.
